So a little while back, my husband talked me into entering this contest called the Mercedes Benz Tweet Race. To qualify, you had to have a certain number of Twitter followers and actively use social media for one reason or another. And thanks to my AMAZE-BALLS following (i.e. YOU!), I apparently met the criteria. So I tossed my hat into the ring for a chance at winning a trip to the Super Bowl and possibly even a brand new Mercedes! Here’s the gist of the contest:
“Four two-person teams will embark on Feb. 2, 2011, from one of four cities — New York, L.A., Chicago or Tampa — in specially outfitted Mercedes-Benz vehicles. They’ll need to beat out three other teams headed to Dallas. They’ll need to complete a series of challenges along the way. They will be assigned Twitter-savvy Team Coaches. And they’ll need gallons of Tweets from their Twitter followers to fuel them to victory.”
And would you believe that much to my dumbfounded surprise, little old me was actually selected as one of the four finalists! Somebody please pinch me! I am so excited to announce that I will soon be embarking from the Windy City with my co-driver and fellow mom, @Hoo_dee_Hoo, which is also the name of our team. (Unfortunately, the corporate powers that be preferred that we use her Twitter handle instead of my potentially offensive one, but oh well, I am still extremely honored to be a part of this very cool shindig.)
Although I am not entirely sure exactly what will be expected of us to win the contest (we’re slowly finding out the details ourselves), what I do know is that I will be needing all of YOU to rally behind our midwestern mama team! Lots and lots of tweeting and re-tweeting will be absolutely necessary to push our little engine that could to the finish line.
I promise to keep you posted and updated as I become more informed, but please please please spread the word that Team @Hoo_dee_Hoo is the team to beat! You can find more information at Mercedes Benz Tweet Race where you can join our team and even have a chance to win your own prize. Now how cool would that be?! Plus, our celebrity “coach” that we’ve been paired with is the tennis goddess known as Ms. Serena Williams!! She will be tweeting to earn money for her charity, The Serena Williams Foundation, which “assists U.S. youth affected by violent crimes and helps provide quality education to underprivileged students.”
Again, I owe you all a crap ton of knuckle bumps and high fives. I honestly couldn’t have gotten here without each and every one of you giving a *curse* about my crazy nucking futty ramblings. So let’s do this, people — I want to win this thing not only for my team but also for YOU!
** Note: I may have to refrain from my normal potty mouth language throughout the duration of the race, but never fear, it’ll only be temporary.
GO TEAM @Hoo_dee_Hoo!!!!
